![]() ![]() But this doesn't mean that the manga is "down to the core" bad or anything. That being said, you should read it if you are an extreme shounen fan or if you want to kill time if you're bored.Ĭurrently having 50 chapters and being caught up to all of them, Tougen Anki is your generic Shounen Manga that seems to have elements of other mangas like CSM, TG etc. I think this is a good representation of how some good and evil works and I appreciate the author for doing that. One thing I like about it is that while the oni or the "bad guys" are just creatures trying to live their life peacefully, without harming humans, the momotarou who are supposed to be the "good guys" are the ones that are seriously corrupt. I understand that it might be for fan service purposes but that shit ain't attractive at all. Sure they are thick and beautiful but all of their boobs are seriously VERY HUGE. But I do not appreciate the way the women are represented in this. The villains, the doctors, the students, the teachers all of them are good looking. One thing that this series doesn't fail at though is making good looking characters. ![]() ![]() The characters are all painfully basic and stereotypical, though a few of them have some mystery behind their character which is good. ![]() I'm gonna be honest it is kinda enjoyable at times despite not having a single unique trait. Which is when he realizes that HE IS INDEED THE MC AND THE KID OF SOME IMPORTANT ONI FROM A CENTURY AGO aka the plot of Blue Exorcist and a couple of other shounen we've all watched before. After training for 2 chapters Ichinose is told to go to this school for oni (his type of species which are basically demons able to manipulate blood) who train to fight off the momotarou (a group of supernatural humans who use bacteria? as their power source). But guess what? HE WASN'T HIS REAL DAD!! HE PICKED ICHINOSE OFF OF NOWHERE WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT?! After this Ichinose is all alone and miserable and doesn't know what to do which is when a mysterious guy with rollerblades and an umbrella made from blood comes in and tries to awaken Ichinose's true power by training him a bit. Then a few panels later person with some type of mysterious magic comes in and tries to kill Ichionse, but of course his old man tries to stop him and dies in the process. The story starts with letting us know that Ichinose Shiki (the mc) is a trouble maker, always making trouble for his old man and everyone around him and If it's done in a good way generic can also be good as seen from almost every new gen shounen. SO first of all the plot is very generic, but generic doesn't mean bad. So It's been a while since I started reading this and I've wanted to write a review but I just couldn't find the right words to help me convey what I feel about this manga. These seem like inherent problems with the mangaka that won't change later down the road. The fact that he's going under a different pen-name and still making the same mistakes is proof enough that it's just a waste of time to have views like "It has potential, so I'll keep reading". That way he can focus on fixing the art issues, while not having to write a story that sucks so bad. The mangaka should look into doing art exclusively, and finding a writer that is actually competent. The pacing sucks, the character writing sucks, the art has moments where the characters look too stiff, no name characters have faces drawn in a completely different style, the constant use of tropes, trying to make me sympathise with the bad guys with some really awful writing, the power system which just seems to be a weird combination of a bunch of other manga power systems in one, etc etc. this is definitely the same mangaka that made Bougyaku no Kokekko (who went under a different pen-name), and based on the reviews and criticisms, the same issues all exist in that series. But nope, it was brought to my attention by someone else that But then it suddenly changes pace from the academy, to a whole arc elsewhere before we even get time to be with the supporting cast.Īt first I didn't mind it too much, thinking it was a new mangaka (with their first series), who has a chance to improve. The first few chapters almost gave me mixed vibes between TG, BBB and Blue Exorcist. At first I was enjoying the art and I liked the MC, I'm not too fussed about generic MC's like that. Just got done reading all of the current chapters. ![]()

The Saxon Math curriculum can be broken up into three levels – K-3, 4-7 and 8-12, with K-3 being quite a bit different than the other grades, something we will discuss below. The main differences are the inclusion (or exclusion) of classroom-oriented activities, specialized teachers manuals, some aesthetic differences, and solutions manuals. That means there are essentially two lines, Saxon Math and the Saxon Math Homeschool Edition, the former being designed for traditional schools and teachers and the latter for homeschooling families.īoth are based on the same essential spiral method and both use the same basic teaching method and philosophy. Saxon Math is a complete K-12 math curriculum that has been designed for both schools and home learning. This process of continual review does seem to have some support in educational research, as well.Īnd because this heavy drill and practice is done over time, it can be less frustrating and stressful for some kids, as well, particularly those that tend to get overwhelmed by math. The general idea being that, by placing a stronger emphasis on practice, reputation and doing exercises, Saxon Math can help with information retention and in making math skills more automatic (known as procedural fluency), leading to greater math achievement on tests and assessments. With Saxon, concepts are reviewed and practiced periodically over time, mixing older concepts into newer lessons and thereby cumulatively giving kids lots of practice and repetition over the year. The other feature that tends to characterize Saxon Math, is the importance it places in continual review, practice and assessment. ![]() The overall idea here is that by chunking information, i.e.presenting math concepts as more bite sized pieces over a longer period, learning becomes less of a strain on a student’s working memory, leading to longer term information retention and lessening frustration in the long run. It is also based on some pretty well-established and long-standing educational studies. This incremental development, as it’s called, is designed to spread skill and knowledge development out over time The curriculum introduces these pieces a little at a time and lets math concepts build upon one another. In other words, Saxon math takes complex concepts and topics and breaks them down into smaller, more manageable pieces Saxon Math makes extensive use of the educational concept of chunking. In Saxon Math’s own words it teaches math through a process of incremental development and continual review. ![]() The Saxon philosophy is really rooted in what is called the spiral method of teaching math, emphasizing the introduction concepts slowly over time and giving kids plenty of practice and repetition.
